Towards the end of 2021 I found myself listening to some traditional organ trio albums. The sparseness sparked something in me that began to develop over the new year. Then as February of 2022 approached I entertained a writing discipline of fourteen songs by month's end. (The challenge birthed eighteen songs, twelve of which grace this album.)

Towards the end of 2021 I found myself listening to some traditional organ trio albums. The sparseness sparked something in me that began to develop over the new year. Then as February of 2022 approached I entertained a writing discipline of fourteen songs by month's end. (The challenge birthed eighteen songs, twelve of which grace this album.) What I created was a batch of songs that were wonderful vehicles for the trio format.

Musically they were recorded as a live band with no ornamentation or thickening of any sort. Lyrically they speak of the world's condition, and the ever present need for a newly discovered love and compassion for humanity.

There was a season quite a way back where I played 300 some dates in an organ trio, and I think this project is an outcome of the many smoke filled nights from that different world. I truly believe that when we write, perform, and listen to music it seeps deep into our soul and often needs some time to brew down there before creatively rising up in a new form.. This seems to be such the case with the Trio project.

Hopefully the listener can absorb the spirit in which these songs were written and recorded, and who knows, maybe after a time of brewing, something organically new will rise out them too.
